Kit Types

Kit Type 1

Kit Type 1 is typically used with a series of items.  Example:  If you wanted to quote one item such as a valve and this valve comes in various sizes, each with a different price but each with the same basic description.  You may not want to add each of these individually to a quote and repeating the full description would be unnecessary.  In this case you would create a kit of a "series" of items.  See Create a Kit for a series of Items.

Lets say the main series is referred to the 1203R Valve.  You have many of these types of valves but each with a different size and price but basically they are the same.  You would typically like to specify this item once with a full description and then list each of the sizes under that with their appropriate price.

Kit type 1 allows you to add a series of items, modify a short description, display pricing for each item, and have them all fall under the main item.

Kit Type 3

Kit Type 3 does not show the assembly price, but takes the components and rolls up the pricing for an assembly price.  Individual component price is not shown.

Kit Type 4

Kit Type 4 displays the assembly price and takes the component price and rolls up the pricing for an assembly price.  Individual component price is shown.

Kit Type 6

Kit Type 6 is typically used if you want to price options out for an item.  In this example we chose our main item and then added to the quote as a kit.  Note the main item will apprear in the kit however it will not print on the generated quote.   Once you have selected the main item,  you can choose the optional items and add them to the kit.  These will be displayed indented and under the orginial item .  Pricing is shown for the optional items and rolled up into the main item.
